steed - fine hoarding + tack {my obsessions}

horses have always been my passion, i love design and i'm basically obsessed with everything that my wickedly talented friend, dione carston, conjures up, so when she called to ask if i would be interested in shooting her space the answer was, "um, yeah!"

steed is the perfect marriage of practical products for the equestrian and original awesomeness for the collector. dione's barn is filled with one cool, distinctive item after another ranging from a zebra rug that i coveted for ages, to a fine pair of gucci english riding boots.  mixed in-between you'll find things like a boar tooth necklace, a skull and cross bone belt buckle, or a chair that dione fabricated herself from an old metal frame that she fashioned with stirrup leathers to create that seat and back...this i covet as well.  you don't need to be a horse person to admire and appreciate dione's fine hoarding, you just need to have good taste, a sense of style, and a sense of humor.

quote of the day | sarah napthali

i had previously decided that i would only post the quotes of the day on monday through friday, but i love this one and was compelled to post today!

•••

we are what we think. all that we are arises with our thoughts. with our thoughts, we make our world. speak or act with an unenlightened mind and trouble will follow you as the wheel follows the ox that draws the cart...in this world hate never yet dispelled hate. only love dispels hate. this is the law, ancient and inexhaustible.

- from the book, "buddhism for mothers" by sarah napthali

snow {my obsessions}

the first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event. you go to bed in one kind of a world and wake up in another quite different, and if this is not enchantment then where is it to be found?

happy fourth birthday! {my little mister}

•••

13 days old
{thirteen days old}

•••

four years ago today, my life happily changed forever when i held my little mister in my arms for the first time.  i could go on and on gushing about him, motherhood and what a truly amazing father my husband proved to be, but i need to get back to celebrating with my boys.  i will simply say that i became me when my son was born and i am beyond grateful everyday for what he teaches me and how my love for him ceaselessly pushes me to be better in every way.

quote of the day | fyodor dostoevsky

the soul is healed by being with children.
